We are thrilled to announce that the 9th International Symposium on Deep-Sea Corals (9th ISDSC) will take place from November 2nd to 5th, 2026, in Barcelona, Spain. This will be the first time the ISDSC is hosted in the Mediterranean Sea.
Much like the Mediterranean, a crossroads of cultures for millennia, the 9th ISDSC aims to foster connections and collaborations between scientists, artists, and the wider community. While building on past symposia, this edition will introduce a novel, refreshing, interdisciplinary approach, bringing together researchers from diverse fields, artists, and engaged citizens to strengthen global partnerships.
Cold-water corals remain largely unknown to most people, yet they face growing threats from both local and global pressures. In these uncertain times, it is more crucial than ever to unite the scientific community, embrace the power of arts and society, and advocate for the preservation of these fragile ecosystems.
